Who else loves to read?

I just read about Books, Glorious Books on The Modern Goddess’ blog about how much she loves reading and I just had to share this with you. In the introduction, Nicole boldly and proudly states, “I am a self-confessed book-a-holic. I have a habit of buying more than one book at a time and then stock-piling them in the corner, gathering dust while they wait patiently for me to read them.”

I’m with you Nicole… I couldn’t have said it better myself. I have a pile of books waiting their turn in the ‘to-be-read’ pile, then another virtual pile on my hard drive of all the eBooks I intend to read. Then there’s the magazines, mostly business related, that I keep in my car for those times when I’m waiting for someone. Magazines are great in situations where you may only get short burst of reading time.

What’s more, my Mum and sisters are all avid readers too so we tend to pass books on from one to another, sometimes forgetting who they originated with to begin with.

If Nicole doesn’t mind, I’m going to borrow a leaf from her book (no pun intended 🙂 ) and start reviewing books here regularly.

Stay tuned for more… and if you’ve read a great business or personal development book that you can recommend (or a not so great book that we shouldn’t waste our time with), please share it here.

Here’s to your business success…

  1. Who else loves to read?

    Me, me, me!

Whenever I try to picture heaven I see a gigantic library (with a Ben & Jerry section) The only buisness (it’s more about econmics)book I’ve read is ‘China’ by Daniel Burnstein and Arne Keizer. Thought it was very insightful.

Fear my beloved enemy by Johanness Otten is one of my all time favourites.

  2. I haven’t heard of either of those – I’ll have to see if they’re in the local library.

I love your vision of heaven 🙂

  3. I, too, am a book addict. Lately I prefer novels so that I can let me mind turn off, and I hate leaving the book before I finish. Hmmm. Bit of a problem there.

I have tagged you for the first blog meme of the year, if you would like to join in. http://mydayoff.com.au/?p=155

  4. Ooh, thanks Anne… off to check out your blog meme post now 🙂

I finished a novel yesterday – one that I tried to read 1 chapter before going to sleep each night, but I was usually still reading it in the early hours of the morning!

  5. I love the vision of heaven as a gigantic library. I am also part of a book club where we pass around books that we love. It’s not the normal book club where we read the same book and discuss it, it’s more what have we read lately and enjoyed. Then if there is someone who has read the same one we can chat about it or we wait until everyone reads it. Enjoy the reviews!

  6. I love to read. But it takes me so long to get through a book because I usually only read in bed at night. Sometimes I’m asleep before the end of the first page. Currently reading “The Eyre Affair”, an amusing book with a literary twist. It’s the first in a series by Jasper Fforde, and I’ll definitely be reading the next one.

  7. I love having the pile of books by my bedside – and each night choose what feels right to read at that time. Usually I find wisdom on the strangest books and find my mind ticks while I am sleeping, calling me to action in the morning.

I loved “The Intention experiment” for the science behind the law of attraction; and “Trading in the Zone” for how your thoughts change the results you get in everything including stock market trades.

I also enjoy e-books and courses. The night before last I finished an e-book on videos as business tools. My brain worked its magic … and here is the result from reading that particular book!

  8. Well done Ingrid!

I’ve been wanting to start putting some videos together however I’ve also realised that I can’t do everything at once and so have been focusing on one new task at a time 🙂 The videos are still a few items down my to-do list, but at least now I know where to go for help 🙂
